The FAFSA determines a student’s Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). However, Federal regulations provide for an appeal process, by which the Financial Aid Office may adjust a student’s FAFSA data elements based on special circumstances affecting household resources. This is called a Special Circumstance and is decided on a case-by-case basis. Through this appeal, we will determine if the circumstances you document will result in a change to aid eligibility. Documentation is required.
Student must have a 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with this office before an appeal can be considered. Additionally, if the student’s file was selected for verification, this process must be completed before an appeal can be considered.
Incomplete appeals will be returned for further information which will cause delays in processing. In addition, please be aware that during our review other supplemental forms or documentation may be requested. Only one appeal per academic year will be allowed.
This appeal is to request an income adjustment to the student's federal student aid application based on special circumstances.
